The Québec government is providing $9,850,392 to three municipalities in Argenteuil for road work.

Argenteuil member of the National Assembly Agnès Grondin announced the funding on Friday, March 7. The funds are from the Local Road Assistance Program.

The largest sum of the funding is for the Township of Harrington. It is receiving $8,030,944 for reconstruction of chemin Harrington.

Grenville-sur-la-Rouge is receiving the second-greatest amount of funding. The municipality will get $1,339,230 for reconstruction work on chemin Kilmar between Route 148 and Autoroute 50.

Grondin said the funding for road construction will benefit the tourism sector associated with the Rivière-Rouge area. The roads receiving funding in Harrington and Grenville-sur-la-Rouge are main routes used by whitewater rafting and canoe enthusiasts who visit the area.

In Lachute, the city is also receiving $480,218 for work on two roads. Out of that amount, $449,798 is for replacement of a culvert on chemin des Sources, and $30,420 is for culvert replacement on chemin Thomas-Gore.
